In God's revelations, there are a lot of commandments and themes. Of all these, from where does the relationship between the Creator and His creation start? To know this, we will look at Quran and Bible about the first and foundational commandment of Our Creator to His creation.

Quran

In the first surah of Quran, there are no commandments, just praise of the Lord and prayer is taught. In the second surah, first twenty verses are introductory. They describe the attributes of believers and non believers. After that, the very first commandment in Quran is given in surah 2, verses 21-22 which is given below.

"O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous.

[He] who made for you the earth a bed [spread out] and the sky is a ceiling and sent down from the sky, rain and brought forth thereby fruits as provision for you. So do not attribute to Allah equals while you know."

(Quran 2: 21-22)

"Allah Himself bears witness that there is no God but He; and likewise do the angels and the men possessed of knowledge bear witness in truth and justice that there is no God but He, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."

(Quran 3:18)

And when addressing the people of the Book, Jews and Christians, the basis for invitation to Islam was this verse which the Prophet Muhammad (صلی اللّٰہ علیہ و آلہ سلّم) also wrote to his letter to Heraclius, the Byzantine emperor .

"Say, 'O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah .' But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."

(Quran 3:64)

Bible

Now we look what the Bible says about the first and the most important commandment.

"One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one."

(Mark:12:28-29)

So, from both Scriptures, we noticed that the first and foundational commandment of the Creator to His creation is to worship Him alone and not to associate any other god besides Him.
